| Pulling away from its predecessor, IndyCar Series 2005 takes to the high-speed oval with a host of new features. Choose from one of 15 IndyCar Series tracks, including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Chicagoland Speedway, and the newly added Twin Ring Motegi Speedway in Japan. Players can opt to compete in an entire season, with coverage of each race provided in a TV-style format complete with race introductions by ABC Sports broadcasters. They can also choose the drivers they would like to race as and against from a selection of 33 renowned IndyCar Series stars, including Al Unser, Jr., Scott Dixon, Sarah Fisher, and Gil de Ferran. Competing against an advanced AI system capable of producing a unique race experience from one track to the next, players may notice their computer-controlled counterparts making strategic decisions as they defend their positions, or drafting in order to pass. Don't be fooled; this newly designed AI system is supposed to be realistic, which means that even minor mistakes could require players to make quick decisions in order to avoid a collision. Also new in IndyCar Series 2005 is the ability to go online and compete simultaneously against up to 12 other drivers in a race for the checkered flag -- and the bragging rights. |
